Did you know that as soon as you register a domain name all of your contact information is published for anyone to view? Privacy.ca allows you to control what information is published about you, and know who is getting it.
Finally you can have an unlisted domain name and be in complete control of your information.
How does it work?
When you turn on the Privacy.ca features with your registrar, the administrative and technical contacts for the domain become Privacy.ca. Should someone wish to know your information, they must visit Privacy.ca, apply to receive it, describe why they need it and pay an admin fee to discourage frivolous people from simply requesting everyone's data.
In the rare cases where your data is requested properly and given out, you will be sent an email with the details of whom it was given to, and why they wanted it.
It is important to note that at all times, the domain name is REGISTERED in your name. Only your contact information is hidden. Privacy.ca does not own the domain name.
To update or change your information, you simply need to log into your Registrars account system. Updates and changes work exactly as before. Only what is published publicly changes.
At any time, you can enable or disable the Privacy.ca features by logging into your Account with your Registrar.
